– ABOUT THE PROJECT
Now Canada’s premiere collection of high-service steakhouses, Hy’s Steakhouses began in 1955 with a single restaurant in Winnipeg run by the legendary Hy Aisenstat. Given the brand’s storied history and long commitment to creating richly beautiful dining environments, it was a distinct honour and challenge to be hired to oversee the artwork selection for Hy’s completely new main Winnipeg location. The final collection ranged from figurative pieces to lush landscapes and, in the leather-rich cocktail lounge, an oversized canvas of a Belle Epoque-era showgirl adding grand style to the room. It was a privilege to work with the visionary team at Hy’s to help reinvigorate the allure in their brand.
Art in a restaurant setting plays multiple roles and offers some key benefits.
